The
Fortuna Choir was founded in 1983 and our repertoire is based on classical music
from the fifteenth to the twentieth century. We do however also sing a broader
range of folk and rhythmic music.
Each year we hold numerous concerts and most recently we have performed a variety of works including M. Duruflé and Gabriel Fauré 'Requiem', Carl Orff 'Carmina Burana', Johannes Brahms 'Liebesliederwalzer', G.F.Händel 'Messias' and 'Acis and Galatea' and J.S.Bach 'Jesu meine Freude'.
We
typically arrange our own concerts but we also have cooperated with a variety of
professional soloists and musicians. A recent and major project has been '700
years of choir singing in Denmark'.
The Fortuna Choir has participated in competitions in Wales, Norway, Hungary, Germany and The Czech Republic.
We
are based in Silkeborg in the middle of Jutland, Denmark and have approximately
40 members. We emphasize the combination of dedicated and devoted hard work with
good humour and social activity.
All
of above has been achieved primarily due to the efforts of our founder and
current leader Mr. Frode Lovmand, who was trained at The Royal Academy of Music,
Aarhus, Denmark.
